Can the Complaining Program

Windsor Regional Hospital’s Can the Complaining Program was designed to improve morale among maternal newborn staff as well as to raise funds for the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation.

Staff were invited to purchase and wear a purple bracelet (sold for $10 each) for 21 days.  Each time they were caught complaining or speaking poorly about another staff member they had to mark an “X” on their bracelet. The 21 day program wrapped up with a celebratory event to highlight the benefits of the program.

In addition to raising $1200 for their fund, response to the program was so positive the hospital is expanding it across the organization.
