Health System Strategic Plan
The Local Health System Integration Act requires the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) to develop an Integrated Health Service Plan (IHSP) which will include a vision statement, integration strategies and specific priorities for their local health system. These plans must be in agreement with the provincial Health System Strategic Plan. In the 2006/07 Accountability Agreement, the government committed to provide the LHINs with a draft of their Strategic Directions for Ontario's healthcare system, to be used by the LHINs as they develop their IHSPs. On Thursday, June 29, 2006, Minister Smitherman provided the LHIN Chairs and CEOs with a copy of the draft Strategic Directions. This document will allow the LHINs to anticipate the goals of the government's Health System Strategic Plan which will help them shape their IHSPs. Minister Smitherman sent a covering letter to each of the LHIN Chairs and CEOs which introduced the five areas of focus for the draft Strategic Directions.
