In April 2006, the ministry created the Methadone Maintenance Treatment Practices Task Force to gain advice on improving access to methadone, best practices, quality assurance and community engagement.

The task force conducted stakeholder consultations in January 2007 in addition to creating a public web site as a forum for feedback from stakeholders into the work of the task force.

The Report of the Methadone Maintenance Treatment Practices Task Force outlines 26 recommendations on how to improve methadone maintenance treatment in Ontario.
