Training for Field Hospital Set-Up
National Emergency Stockpile System (NESS) :
Emergency Field Hospital Set-Up Training Course The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s Emergency Management Unit (EMU) would like to invite community emergency response personnel from across Ontario to participate in training sessions for the NESS Emergency Hospital. The course is designed to promote awareness of the NESS program and to familiarize participants with the contents of the Emergency Hospital including general logistics considerations for setup should it become necessary to deploy this equipment within your community. The NESS is a federal program of the Public Health Agency of Canada, and is managed within Ontario by the MOHLTC. The various components of this program are designed to support communities in the event that local resources are overwhelmed or compromised by an emergency. The 200-bed Emergency Hospital component of the NESS offers basic emergency medical supplies and equipment and can also support basic social services needs. The unit must be deployed within an existing indoor facility in the affected community. In order to broaden awareness and ensure the viability of this resource within your community, the Emergency Management Unit is offering several training opportunities, and hopes to have your cooperation and support!
