Health and Long-Term Care Minister George Smitherman unveils Canada's first Emergency Medical Assistance Team (EMAT), as part of the province's preparedness for future health emergencies.

EMAT is a mobile acute-care field unit consisting of 20 negative-pressure tents staffed by a team of healthcare professionals. The self-sufficient unit features the most up-to-date medical equipment and supplies, a communications centre and its own supply of electricity and water.
